Wizz Air is significantly expanding its Milan operations. The airline announced an eleventh aircraft, four new international routes, and a substantial boost in local employment, all kicking off this September. It’s a major upgrade to its Lombardy capital base, promising increased connectivity and a deeper footprint in the Italian market.

What’s new for travelers? From mid-September, direct flights begin to Santander and Zaragoza in Spain, Porto in Portugal, and Morocco’s coastal Agadir-Al Massira. It’s Wizz Air’s clear bid to broaden its offerings, mixing city breaks with sunnier getaways across the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. These new services will serve both leisure travelers hunting for cultural experiences or beach time, and business passengers needing efficient links to key regional centres.

But this expansion isn't just about flights. It’s a direct investment in local jobs. Adding that eleventh aircraft means approximately 40 new Wizz Air roles right away – for pilots, cabin crew, and ground staff. Beyond that, the boost in operations is expected to generate roughly 350 indirect jobs in vital supporting sectors like airport services, hospitality, and logistics. Milan’s job market, in short, stands to gain.

Milan already holds its own as a key European budget travel hub. These latest additions will push Wizz Air's network from the city to 50 routes, connecting it to 23 countries. It’s an offering that gives Milanese residents more access to Europe and beyond. And it makes Italy more accessible for international visitors seeking affordable travel.
