Sukhoi Superjet 100

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100), also known as the Yakovlev SJ-100, is a twin-engine regional jet developed by the civil aircraft division of Russian aerospace manufacturer Sukhoi, now part of the United Aircraft Corporation. Conceived to capture a significant share of the short-haul market, the aircraft seats roughly 87 to 108 passengers in a five-abreast configuration and is designed to compete directly with Western regional mainstays like the Embraer E-Jet and Airbus A220 families.

As the first all-new commercial airliner developed in post-Soviet Russia, the Superjet program leaned heavily on international partnerships during its inception, incorporating western avionics, flight control systems, and PowerJet SaM146 engines built via a French-Russian joint venture. Following geopolitical shifts and sweeping trade sanctions, the aircraft underwent a major redesign effort—designated as the SJ-100—to substitute Western components with domestic alternatives, including the integration of Russian Aviadvigatel PD-8 turbofans.
