History
The Story of Neos
Neos was established on June 22, 2001, as a joint venture between the Italian tourism conglomerate Alpitour S.p.A. and the German tourism group TUI. The airline obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and launched commercial flight operations on March 8, 2002, operating its inaugural flight from Milan Malpensa Airport to Senegal utilizing a Boeing 737-800. In January 2004, Alpitour acquired all remaining shares held by TUI, transforming Neos into a wholly owned subsidiary within the Alpitour World network.
Initially focused on short- and medium-haul leisure routes catering to the tour operator's package holiday market, Neos expanded into long-haul operations in 2004. Over the subsequent decades, the carrier modernized and diversified its fleet, transitioning to an all-Boeing lineup that incorporates Boeing 737 Next Generation, 737 MAX, and widebody Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Today, Neos operates scheduled and charter services to over 85 destinations across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East from its primary operational base at Milan Malpensa, alongside secondary bases including Verona, Bologna, and Rome Fiumicino.
Branding
Livery & Visual Identity
Neos' visual branding features a clean, contemporary corporate aesthetic tailored to its leisure-market positioning. The aircraft exterior paint scheme is predominantly white, highlighted by a stylized tail design featuring a dynamic sweep of overlapping blue and orange or gold curved ribbons that form a stylized 'N' or flowing modern motif. Engine cowlings are typically accented in complementary corporate colors, and the fuselage prominently displays the bold 'NEOS' logotype in deep blue near the forward section. Over the years, minor refinements have been implemented alongside fleet transitions—such as the introduction of the Boeing 787 and 737 MAX—while maintaining this core color palette and clean white fuselage presentation.
