Getting To & From Hong Kong International Airport
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is linked to the urban center by several efficient transport networks. The Airport Express is the fastest public option, running high-speed trains from the airport to Tsing Yi, Kowloon, and Hong Kong stations in roughly 14 to 24 minutes. Public buses, including dedicated 'A' route Airbuses, provide widespread coverage across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories at lower costs. Metered taxis are readily available at the ground transportation center, categorized by color depending on your destination (red for urban/Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, green for the New Territories, and blue for Lantau).

The airport has two terminals. The new Terminal 2 opened its departure facilities on 27 May 2026: 15 airlines moved their check-in there, and passengers then go to Terminal 1 for boarding. Terminal 2 arrivals are due in 2027. Terminal 1 still handles all arrivals, boarding and transfers. Passengers moving between main terminal areas and satellite concourses utilize the underground Automated People Mover (APM) system.
