Getting To & From İstanbul Airport
Istanbul Airport (IST) is connected to the city center via the M11 metro line, which runs from Gayrettepe to the airport with a travel time of approximately 30 minutes. Havaist and municipal IETT public buses also operate frequent routes connecting the airport's transportation floor (Level -2) to various hubs across both the European and Anatolian sides of the city. Taxis are readily available outside the terminal, with metered yellow or turquoise cabs providing transit to central areas like Taksim or Sultanahmet depending on heavy local traffic conditions.

Istanbul Airport operates out of a single, massive main terminal building handling both domestic and international flights, separated into distinct concourse piers (A, B, D, F for international, and G alongside parts of F for domestic). Because the complex is exceptionally large under one roof—with walks between distant gates taking up to 20 or 30 minutes—there is no inter-terminal transfer required, but passengers should factor in considerable walking time inside the single structure.
