Istanbul Airport (IST) is connected to the city center via the M11 metro line, which runs between Gayrettepe and the airport in roughly 35 to 40 minutes. The line was extended south to Halkalı in 2026. Havaist and municipal IETT public buses also operate frequent routes connecting the airport's transportation floor (Level -2) to various hubs across both the European and Anatolian sides of the city. Taxis are readily available outside the terminal, with metered yellow or turquoise cabs providing transit to central areas like Taksim or Sultanahmet depending on heavy local traffic conditions.
