Getting To & From Munich Airport
Munich Airport is connected to the city center by the S-Bahn suburban railway lines S1 and S8, which depart from the underground station beneath the central area every 10 minutes combined, taking roughly 40 to 45 minutes to reach Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). A single ticket or day ticket covering tariff zones M–5 is required. Alternatively, the Lufthansa Express Bus runs every 20 minutes to the central station via Munich North, taking about 45 minutes. Taxis are readily available outside both terminals, with fares to downtown Munich typically ranging between 50 and 80 euros depending on traffic conditions.

The airport consists of two main passenger terminals linked by the central Munich Airport Center (MAC). Terminal 1 handles primarily non-Star Alliance carriers across modules A through F, while Terminal 2 (along with its dedicated Satellite building) serves as the core hub for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners. Walking between Terminals 1 and 2 takes about 10 minutes. An automated underground shuttle train connects the Terminal 2 main building to the Satellite building every few minutes.
