Getting To & From Vce

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) connects to the mainland and the lagoon via multiple transport modes. Road options include ATVO express buses (about 20 minutes to Piazzale Roma, roughly €10, about US$11.50, one way; ATVO also serves Mestre railway station) and the slower ACTV Line 5 AeroBus (about 30 to 45 minutes, with several stops). Taxis and authorized chauffeured services (NCC) operate 24 hours a day with fixed-rate fares to Piazzale Roma and Mestre. For direct water transit, travelers can walk about 10 to 13 minutes via a covered moving walkway to the airport dock to catch Alilaguna waterbuses or private water taxis directly toward the Venetian lagoon and island.

Terminals & Getting Around

Terminals

Venice Marco Polo Airport operates out of a single multi-level passenger terminal building handling both domestic and international flights. Because everything is consolidated under one roof, inter-terminal transfers are non-existent; check-in, security, and gates are fully integrated within the main complex.

Hours of Operation

The terminal is generally open to accommodate scheduled operations, though it typically closes or restricts public access late at night once the final flights arrive. Overnight sleeping options landside are limited.

Know Before You Go

Practical Tips

  • Factor in the 10-to-13-minute covered walk from the main terminal to the dock area if you plan on taking a water taxi or Alilaguna boat.
  • Validate your ACTV or municipal transit tickets prior to boarding buses or waterbuses to avoid steep on-the-spot fines.
  • Allow extra time during peak morning departure banks, as security lines can back up significantly.
  • Ensure you check whether your final destination in Venice requires a connecting vaporetto ride after arriving by land bus at Piazzale Roma.

Comfort

Lounges

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) features the Marco Polo Club Lounge, located on the second floor after security checks near the Bricco restaurant. As the primary multi-airline and independent facility in the terminal, it accommodates status passengers, business-class travelers, and network programs like Priority Pass. A paid Aspire Executive Lounge opened landside, above the check-in desks, on a trial basis, so check whether it is still open. Airline lounges are absent, making the Marco Polo Club the core shared lounge for all carriers.

Staying Online

Wi-Fi & Charging

Passengers at VCE can connect to the complimentary Venice Airport Free WiFi network throughout the terminal building. While functional for casual browsing, it carries typical public network limitations during peak travel hours. Hardwired charging infrastructure includes scattered device-charging stations equipped with European power sockets and USB ports, primarily positioned near gate seating areas and public concourses.

Eat & Drink

Food & Dining

The terminal features a selection of sit-down restaurants, wine bars, and quick-service coffee spots distributed across pre- and post-security zones. Notable post-security options include the deCanto Wine Bar and Restaurant for regional Italian plates and wine pairings, Bricco Restaurant, Bottega Prosecco Bar in the Extra-Schengen area, and the international addition of Costa Coffee. Traditional Italian espresso bars and pastry counters operate throughout the departures level.

Driving In

Parking

Official airport parking managed by SAVE comprises roughly 6,000 spaces across multi-story structures (such as Park P1) and open-air lots close to the terminal. Short-stay zones offer a limited window of free drop-off/pick-up time (about 10 minutes in the short-stay areas, per parking guides; check the airport's parking page), after which strict surcharges apply. Long-term and multi-day spaces offer discounted pricing when booked in advance via the official Venice Airport web portal compared to drive-up rates.

Staying Nearby

Nearby Hotels

While there are no hotels structurally integrated directly inside the VCE terminal building, several reputable properties operate within a short shuttle ride or drive of the arrivals area (shuttle availability and fees vary, so check with each hotel). Notable options nearby include the Courtyard by Marriott Venice Airport, the Annia Park Hotel Venice Airport, and the Best Western Titian Inn Hotel Venice Airport. These properties are routinely utilized by travelers with early-morning flight departures.
