The Embraer E195-E2 is the largest variant of Embraer's second-generation E-Jet E2 narrow-body family. Designed as a high-efficiency regional and low-density mainline airliner, it features a stretched fuselage, advanced fly-by-wire flight controls, and a completely redesigned high-aspect-ratio wing optimized for maximum aerodynamic performance without traditional winglets.
Powered exclusively by Pratt & Whitney PW1900G geared turbofan engines, the E195-E2 delivers significant double-digit reductions in fuel burn and noise emissions compared to its predecessor. Its cabin maintains Embraer's popular four-abreast seating layout, completely eliminating middle seats while offering expanded luggage bins and modern passenger amenities suited for short- to medium-haul networks.
By The Numbers
The Embraer E195-E2 has established itself as the commercial anchor of the second-generation E-Jet E2 family, accumulating triple-digit deliveries and a robust multi-year order backlog backed by over 500 cumulative commitments across the entire E2 program. Following its entry into service with launch customer Azul Linhas Aéreas in 2019, the variant has seen steady production output, bolstered by high-profile fleet modernizations and strong manufacturer output targets.
Geographically, the aircraft's primary operational strongholds span North America, South America, and Europe. Major operators like Porter Airlines in Canada and Azul in Brazil command substantial fleets deployed on high-frequency domestic and transborder networks. Meanwhile, European carriers such as KLM Cityhopper and regional specialists continue to leverage the type's fuel efficiency and low noise footprint to replace aging narrowbody capacity on intra-European trunk and secondary routes.
Manufacturing
Where It's Built
Final assembly of the Embraer E195-E2 takes place at Embraer's main commercial aviation facility located at São José dos Campos in São Paulo, Brazil. Major structural and systems responsibilities are distributed among global aerospace tier-one suppliers. The aircraft features a completely redesigned, higher-aspect-ratio wing manufactured directly by Embraer using advanced aerodynamics tailored specifically to the E2 family. Fuselage sections and structural sub-assemblies are built utilizing a combination of in-house manufacturing and specialized aerostructures partners. Avionics systems are supplied by Honeywell, utilizing the Primus Epic integrated avionics suite equipped with large-format displays and advanced flight management functions. Flight control surfaces and actuation systems rely on contributions from key suppliers including Liebherr-Aerospace and Parker Hannifin, supporting the aircraft's full fly-by-wire architecture.
Regarding the program's financial metrics, specific development costs isolated exclusively to the E195-E2 variant are not independently itemized in public financial disclosures. However, Embraer publicly stated that the overall investment budget for the entire second-generation E-Jet (E2) family program—covering the E190-E2, E195-E2, and the delayed E175-E2—was approximately USD 1.7 billion.
