Forlì Storm: Boeing 737s Damaged

When a severe storm tore through Forlì Airport, flipping light training planes across the apron, the damage was worse than it first appeared. Beyond the wrecked light aircraft, high winds severely battered two commercial Boeing 737-800 jets parked on the tarmac, according to reports from ItaliaVola.

Both airframes — operated by AirExplore and Yakutia — took direct structural hits during the squall. Inspectors later found compromised winglets and damaged stabilizers on the twinjets, turning a freak local storm into a costly maintenance nightmare for both carriers.

Ground infrastructure didn't escape either as winds whipped across the exposed concrete. Maintenance crews are still assessing the damage to airport facilities, while engineers try to figure out if the twinjets can be repaired on-site or if they're grounded for major overhauls.

Forlì hasn't offered a timeline for clearing the damaged aircraft off the ramp. With two commercial jets now sidelined right next to overturned training planes, the airport's facing a steep cleanup bill before normal operations can resume.
